The Peter Pan Centre for Children with Special Needs

Founded as a playgroup for disabled children in 1969, we are a charity devoted to giving children the best start in life and their families the support they deserve.
Through our weekly Education, Care and Development Sessions for 0-5 year-olds with special needs, we:
- Provide exceptional care, support and education to enable children to make rapid progress towards learning, life skills and independence
- Support families to meet their children’s needs and provide them with respite
- Liaise with health, education and social welfare professionals to ensure a coordinated package of support and consistency of care throughout the early years
- Work hard to help children transition successfully to school
Ofsted stated in their most recent inspection (2015) that children make significant and rapid progress with us.

- Notes
We can support children with a variety of needs and disabilities, from conditions such as Down's syndrome and autism to children with medical requirements, or those who have no formal diagnosis but have a complex collection of needs and symptoms
We have high ratios of adults to children, usually 1:1, as we tailor our service to each child’s individual needs. Our sessions provide children with the opportunities to explore and experiment through play, which includes structured group and 1:1 activities and unstructured free play. Learning through play promotes the development of a child and it is through play that children develop their imagination and creativity. Our sessions aim to give every child with an additional need the best early support to enable them to continue their journey into education, whether that is mainstream or special.
