Peter Pan Centre - for children age 0 - 5

OFSTED rating

We are a specialist early years setting delivering Education, Care and Development Sessions for 0-5 year-olds that follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.  We support children with a variety of needs and disabilities, from conditions such as Down's syndrome and autism to children with medical requirements, or those who have no formal diagnosis but have a complex collection of needs and symptoms.

We have high ratios of adults to children, usually 1:1 or 1:2, as we tailor our service to each child’s individual needs. Our sessions provide children with opportunities to explore and experiment through play, which includes structured group and 1:1 activities and unstructured free play. Learning through play promotes child development and it is through play that children develop their imagination and creativity. Our sessions aim to give every child with an additional need the best early support to enable them to continue their journey into education, whether that is mainstream or special.

Our Family Support Offer is available to families with children aged 0-5 who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or developmental delay.

Things We Can Help With:

SEND Stay and Play Groups at

  • The Bescura Family Hub at Port Vale
  • The Indi Club at Sneyd Green
  • Hazel Trees at Fenton

Lead by Kirsty, our Senior Family Support Worker, or Demi, our Family Support Practitioner, our playgroups are both supported by parent volunteers, whose young children are now graduates of the Peter Pan Centre. These relaxed and friendly sessions are for families with young children aged under 5 who require extra support. Booking is essential.

Families who access any of our Stay and Play Groups or our Centre in Wolstanton can also access a range of other activities, from family socials and training sessions to support with DLA applications and advice for the home.
