Edison Pace School, ST1 (ages 11-16)

OFSTED rating

Edison Pace School is an independent SEND school that currently caters for children ages 11 – 16. We have exciting plans to extend our offer to primary aged children from September 2024.

Based in Staffordshire, our central location makes us accessible for a number of local authorities. Rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, we are a calm and quiet environment which supports highly anxious young people. Class sizes are small, with no more than eight students per class, with specialised teachers and experienced support staff. This ensures that students feel safe and not overwhelmed. Each child also has a keyworker who maintains regular communication with parents/carers.

At Edison Pace School we understand that every student is different, with individual needs. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students to enjoy and engage in their education. Choosing the right school is a key decision for any family. The experience that children have at school will shape their future and we take this responsibility very seriously, working tirelessly to ensure that all students have the best opportunities to allow them to succeed.

We offer a holistic approach to learning and each student has a comprehensive personal development programme, with access to our therapist. Small classes mean that students benefit from one-to-one time with teaching and pastoral staff, learning at a pace that suits them.

We are proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities for students, which includes an extensive library in our learning resource centre, an information technology suite, an art and design studio, a hair and beauty salon, a design technology suite, a number of specialist sensory rooms, a music studio and a science laboratory. We are an accredited centre for the Duke of Edinburgh award and also have our own multi-use games area which enables us to offer a variety of sports activities for students.

The Ellis programme supports those students who have been absent from education for a period of time before joining us to re-engage with education. The Ellis Programme is delivered by a dedicated team of teaching and support staff, who are experienced in delivering a tailored and nurturing curriculum.

Our highly qualified staff and therapists receive specialised training to ensure we meet the needs of all learners. We reward positive behaviour through our Dojo system and focus on fostering an enjoyment of learning. We understand the importance of positive mental well-being and have a comprehensive student voice programme as part of personal development.

There is a timetabled activities schedule based on Personal Development and PSHE. This is also an opportunity to receive breakfast.

Mornings consist of 3 x 1 hour lessons with the afternoon having two lessons one of which is slightly shorter in length.

During the morning tutor time, students follow a personal development programme of activities which include Newsround, completing a learning journal as well as careers and reading opportunities.

The shorter afternoon lessons provides an opportunity at the end of the day for a reflect and repair session with their keyworkers, where students can reflect on their day and hold restorative conversations if necessary.

Within their weekly timetable offer, students will also be off site for at least one morning a week completing their Duke of Edinburgh course.

Cost The local authority agrees the fees with the school based on needs
