Young People’s Voices Shaping the SEND Reform Plan

Colourful stripes, a speech bubble, and the words Have Your Say.
Have your say

100 children and young people helped shape the future of SEND support in Stoke-on-Trent. Find out what they told us and how their feedback is influencing change.

During the summer term of 2026, we visited schools, specialist settings, resource bases and post-16 providers across Stoke-on-Trent to hear directly from children and young people about their experiences of education, support, inclusion and preparing for adulthood. 100 young people took part, sharing what matters most to them and what they would like to see improved.

Their feedback highlighted key themes including trusted relationships, calm and inclusive environments, better transitions, personalised support, belonging, earlier help, being listened to, preparation for adulthood, and the importance of consistency and routine. These priorities have directly influenced the development of the Stoke-on-Trent SEND Reform Plan.

We have created a short video to show how young people's voices are helping to shape future improvements across our local area partnership.
