There is more information about exactly what Ordinarily Available Provision means and why we are carrying out this project here:

What is Ordinarily Available Provision?

Ordinarily Available Provision” (OAP) is the support that all schools, nurseries and colleges should be able to provide for children with special educational needs

What is going to happen?

There will be a project to see what help should be available for children and young people with special educational needs who don’t have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This information will be used to create a document that shows what schools and settings in Stoke-on-Trent should be able to provide.

What will be the benefits of this?

Parents will know what can be done to support their child at school.
Schools can use the document to see if they can improve what they are already doing to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
Children and Young People will know what support is available in their school to help them.

How will the OAP document be created?

SEND Services will be working with Parents/Carers as well as staff from schools, early years settings, colleges, health services and SENDIASS. This will make sure that all voices are heard and that the OAP document is helpful for Parents/Carers, schools and other services.

Where will I find the final OAP document?

The OAP document will be available to view on Stoke-on-Trent’s Local Offer and the SENDCO Hub when it is complete.
