SEND Home to School Travel Assistance Update
Important update on applications for SEND Home to School Travel Assistance 2026–2027
The All-Age Transport Team would like to advise parents / carers that the application portal for SEND Home to School Travel Assistance applications for the 2026-2027 academic year will open on 09 March 2026. All parents / carers who want to apply for SEND Travel Assistance will need to do so using our online Citizen Portal. Please see the below information regarding applications.
Pupils in Year 11 and Post 16 / 19 provision:
For young people currently in Year 11 or Post 16 / 19 provision, parents / carers will need to apply for SEND Travel Assistance for the 2026-2027 academic year. Our service will be writing to all parents / carers of young people in Year 11 or Post 16 / 19 provision currently receiving SEND Travel Assistance explaining how to do this. As soon as you have confirmation of your young person’s placement for the next academic year, please apply as soon as possible. If you currently receive a Personal Transport Budget (PTB), you will still need to complete a new application.
Pupils in Reception to Year 10:
If your child is currently in Reception through to Year 10 and currently receive Home to School Travel Assistance, either commissioned transport or a PTB, you do not need to apply again for transport unless you have a change in circumstance or are moving schools.
Parents / carers applying for the first time:
For any parent / carer applying for SEND Travel Assistance from September 2026 for the first time or due to a change in circumstance, you will need to apply via the Citizen Portal from 09 March 2026.
