Schools’ Early Years Forum Pilot

From September 2024-July 2025 Stoke-on-Trent City Council along with health and social care partners will be running a pilot project to extend Early Years Forum involvement to children with additional needs who attend nursery classes within mainstream schools.

It is hoped that this project will support the transition of children into school provisions by providing a multi-agency overview of their development and progress. It will also  ensure that young children with SEND have the right support at the right time. Once the pilot is completed, Schools’ Early Years Forum will be opened up to all nursery, infant and primary schools within Stoke-on-Trent.

Pilot schools and health colleagues are able to refer children with 2 areas of significant delays in their development. Schools’ Early Years Forum will finish at the end of the child’s nursery year, when the school will continue to follow the graduated approach to assessing and meeting each child’s individual needs.
