Caudwell Children

Caudwell Children is a UK wide Charity that acts to transform the lives of children with disabilities, autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Our aim is to enable children to reach their full potential by providing access to the vital services, assessments, equipment, therapies and treatments they so desperately need. 

Charitable funding is available for all services for families with an annual household income of £45,000 or less.

Autism – Caudwell Children Autism Service https://www.caudwellchildren.com/services/autism/

Caudwell Children Autism Service provides assessment, intervention and support for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. 

This service is available to children from anywhere in the UK aged 4 – 11 years.

All services are delivered within the state of the art, purpose built Caudwell International Children’s Centre facility based in Staffordshire. 

Children accessing the service will be assessed and supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary clinical team including; Doctors, Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses. 

The service is registered with CQC and follows NICE guidelines, in order to provide families with a reliable and accredited service option. 

Services available include:

  • ASD MDT Assessment
    • Referrals need to be made by a health, social care or education professional
    • 80% funding is available for families with a household income less than £45.000
    • Eligible referrals will receive an appointment for assessment within 12weeks
    • Individual feedback meeting to discuss the result of the ASD assessment with a member of the MDT team within 7 weeks of the ASD assessment
    • 12 month family support from dedicated team
    • Two days of practical support workshops for two people

 

  • Occupational Therapy Sensory Integration - OTSI
    • Referrals need to be made by a health, social care or education professional
    • 80% funding available for families with household income less than £45,000
    • Eligible referrals will receive an appointment for assessment within 12weeks
    • Individual feedback meeting to discuss the result of the ASD assessment with a member of the MDT team within 7 weeks of the ASD assessment
    • 12 month family support from dedicated team
    • One days of practical support workshops for two people

ASD Workshop Programme

The Workshop Programme offers a comprehensive range of workshops for parents/carers and children to provide practical advice, support and information following diagnosis.

  • Parents are able to self- refer to this service.
  • Content aimed at children aged 4-11. (Parents are welcome to access workshops if they feel the content would be useful to them, despite their child being older than 11years)
  • 80% funding available for families with household income less than £45,000

Family Support

Provides (non-means tested) practical support through signposting and information finding for families. 

If the kind of support families require is not something that is provided by the charity our team will carry out research to identify alternative support services, local to where the family lives.

Caudwell Children provides up to 80% funding (for families with a household income of £45,000 or less) towards the cost of:

Wheelchairs; Specialist buggies; Car Seats; Car Harnesses: Therapy Trikes; Sensory Equipment; Specialist Sports Equipment

Treatment

Providing access to vital treatments where medical treatment is not statutorily available on the NHS but has been recommended by a UK-based medical professional, Caudwell Children can provide support to assist with self-funding.  Treatments include:

  • Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR).

Any other treatments will be evaluated upon application.

Therapy

Conditions such as cerebral palsy, brain tumour, hemiplegia, congenital brain injury on an injury acquired through trauma or illness can affect a child’s posture, balance, ability to move, communicate, eat sleep and learn. 

Caudwell Children provides Conductive Education, designed to enable disabled children and adults achieve greater independence.

Supported Holiday and Short Breaks

Providing disabled children access to fun, inspirational and challenging leisure activities that build life skills and promote independence whilst providing carers with vital short break respite.

With our support, disabled children and young people get to explore their interests, talents and develop vital life skills. Together we plan a range of fun and challenging learning activities that meet individual needs. Activities can lead to ASDAN accreditation.

The Caudwell International Children's Centre is the UK’s first independent purpose-built centre, dedicated to multidisciplinary autism diagnosis, support and research.
