Aiming High – Fun Activities and Short Breaks for Children and Young People with SEND
Aiming High Stoke-on-Trent
Aiming High offers a wide range of fun, inclusive activities and short breaks for children and young people under the age of 18 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Stoke-on-Trent — and their families.
- No EHCP or diagnosis is required to take part.
The programme aims to:
- Provide new experiences and build independence
- Encourage social interaction with peers
- Give families and carers valuable time to rest and recharge
- From creative workshops to outdoor adventures, there’s something for everyone.
- Some activities are designed for young people to attend independently while others are also open to parents/carers and siblings.
- Some Providers are able to offer additional staffing support and help with personal care and medication.

Session Entitlement
2 free sessions per month (24 per year)
At the moment, there is no option to pay for additional places as we want to ensure that as many families as possible have chance to book their free places. However, some of our providers offer paid spaces outside of the Aiming High offer that you can book directly with them.
Booking Schedule
Bookings open at 8:00 AM on the first working day of each month for the following month’s activities.
Example: Bookings for September open on Friday 1 August; for December, on Monday 3 November.
Providers review requests from the 11th of each month and may contact you to confirm suitability before offering a place.
Bookings are not first-come, first-served – this ensures fair access for all families.
Assessments
Providers may:
Request additional information
Complete an assessment (especially for complex needs)
Introduce themselves and check for any other relevant details
For Staffordshire Families
Aiming High is for Stoke-on-Trent residents only, unless there are exceptional circumstances (e.g. a Stoke Looked After Child living outside the city).

Use of Photos and Video
Photos and videos may be used by the provider in publications such as presentations, websites, social media posts, displays, newsletters, leaflets, case studies and brochures. Children will be asked whether they consent or not on each occasion, as well, and the photo or film will only proceed with their consent.

You may withdraw consent at any time and, where we can, we will stop using the image immediately – however, anything containing the image which is already in the public domain cannot be recalled, so please be sure you have given a “yes” answer detailed thought.
