Velocity Training (ages 11-16) - Organisations

Velocity Training Academy is an alternative provision supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND), including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and associated behavioural challenges.

The provision offers a structured, nurturing environment designed to re-engage learners who may struggle within mainstream education. Our approach is trauma-informed and relationship-led, recognising that many students have experienced adverse life events, disrupted education, or barriers to learning.

At Velocity, we focus on developing the whole child. Alongside core academic support in English and Maths functional skills, we deliver a broad, personalised curriculum that includes vocational activities, physical education/sports leadership qualification, Employability and development qualification, IT functional skills and enrichment opportunities such as outdoor learning and boxing. These activities are used strategically to build confidence, resilience, self-regulation, and teamwork skills.

We maintain small group sizes and high staff-to-student ratios, allowing for tailored interventions and consistent pastoral support. Staff are experienced in de-escalation strategies, behaviour support, and safeguarding, ensuring that all students feel safe, respected, and understood.

Venue notes

Velocity Training Academy is based within a single-storey bungalow, providing a calm and accessible environment for students with additional needs.

  • Building Access: The provision is all on one level, allowing step-free access throughout the majority of the building. This supports students with mobility needs and reduces barriers to movement between learning spaces.
  • Parking: On-site parking is available at the rear of the property, enabling safe drop-off and collection away from busy roads.
  • Entrances and Exits: Access to the building is straightforward, with clear entry and exit points. Staff supervise arrivals and departures to ensure safety.
  • Internal Environment: The setting is small, structured, and low-stimulation, which is particularly suitable for students with SEMH needs, Autism, and sensory sensitivities.
  • Toilet Facilities: Toilet facilities are available on site.
  • Outdoor Space: There is access to outdoor areas used for structured activities and regulation, supporting physical wellbeing and engagement.
  • Supervision and Safety: High staff presence ensures students are supported with movement around the site where needed.

Velocity aims to provide an inclusive and accessible environment, with reasonable adjustments made where required to meet individual student needs.
