Things to do over the summer holidays.

Getting out and about

Public transport

Buses

Use this map to see bus routes in your area.

You can also visit this website to help you plan your journey.

It may be useful to know that a Weekender ticket allows up to 5 people to travel all weekend within the Potteries area.(from 6pm on Friday) for £8.50, Details of fares can be found here.

Remember to check which buses will be running if you want to travel at the weekend or on a bank holiday.

Travel by train

If you want to travel further afield and prefer to travel by train, it may be worth buying a railcard which will save you money on any rail journeys you make over the next year. There is information here on the different types of railcards available, including the Disabled Person’s railcard and the Family and Friends’ railcard.

Enjoying the outdoors

We are so lucky in Stoke-on-Trent to have so much lovely countryside around us. If you want to get some fresh air, there is a range of accessible walks within Staffordshire here. Don’t forget Park Hall Country Park and Westport Lake, even closer to home.

Daytrips

For other daytrips, the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain is worth a look. Everywhere listed has been visited by reviewers with personal experience of physical or cognitive conditions. You can read it for free here. The attractions in the West Midlands start on page 119.

Toilet facilities

To help you plan your day out you can look to see what toilet facilities will be available where you are going.

This map shows all public toilets and can be filtered to show only accessible toilets

All Changing Places toilets can be viewed on this map.
